Parachute Regiment Insight Course

This is a free weekend for young men aged between 16 - 33. We will even pay for your train ticket. The course is physically demanding but enjoyable and will give you a good idea of the standard required. We guarantee you will enjoy the weekend and you never know, you may surprise yourself!

Some course dates are listed below, if you feel you are up for it, call us now and book yourself on a course. Course vacancies are in great demand and subject to availability therefore a place on your chosen course cannot be guaranteed.

A reasonable standard of fitness is required prior to attending the Insight course. We are looking for individuals who can complete a 4 mile familiarisation run, plus a personal best effort of 2 minutes for each exercise of continuous press ups, situps and upper body heaves. 

If you feel you are up to this then contact your local Army Careers Office and they will book you onto an insight course.

Parachute Regiment Assessment.

Once you have attended the insight course weekend, you will need to pass selection at the Parachute Regiment Assessment Centre (PRAC) at Catterick. The course comprises of a series of physical tests to examine your durability and physical fitness. The assessment covers three days and upon successful completion you will be given a start date to join a platoon in PARA Company. An outline of the three day program is as follows:

Day 1.    Introduction to PRAC and familiarisation to barrack routine followed by a short presentation on yourself which is to last no more than five minutes.

Day 2.    Physical fitness assessment which will consist of sit ups, press ups, 4 mile familiarisation run. Introduction to the Trainasium (weather permitting).  Basic First Aid lessons.

Day 3.    Steeplechase (best effort) this may be swapped with the Trainasium due to weather.
