The Territorial Army Infantry is an essential part of the Infantry as a whole, representing over 25% of its personnel. It provides everyday people with the chance to do something different with their lives - an opportunity to face new challenges, develop new skills, meet new people, have lots of fun and, to top it all off, earn some extra money.
The TA Infantry is a fully integrated part of the Infantry order of battle. As such it is divided into the same Regimental and Divisional structures as its regular counterparts.
OPERATIONS
In the last 3 years the TA Infantry have deployed over 4,500 on operations predominantly to Iraq and Afghanistan. Their participation has been vital to the overall Infantry deployment and their contribution has been recognised in terms of honours and awards. They deploy either as individual reinforcements, platoons or formed companies.
OTHER TASKS
In addition the TA Infantry have a key role in providing military assistance to other Government departments and as a civil contingency reaction force.
