Territorial Army

THE TERRITORIAL INFANTRY

The Territorial Army is an integral part of todays 'One Army Concept'. 10% of the TA are currently on Operations throughout the world, whether it be in the Balkans, Afghanistan or Iraq.  The TA Infantrymen are fully integrated into Infantry Battalions on operations and operate as fighting units (Sections, Platoons, Companies).  The TA soldier is treated the same as his regular counterpart and expected to carry out the same job to the same high standard.  The TA soldiers get the same welfare support as his Regular counterpart whilst away from his family, as well as  medical and financial support.  TA soldiers who deserve to receive gallantry awards  are put through the same system as the Regulars.  To see how Pte Garry Smith earned his, click here.
