ORGANISATION

Due to the restructuring of the Army in Northern Ireland, 39 Infantry Brigade has absorbed elements from 3 and 8 Infantry Brigades and also from 107 (Ulster) Brigade.  Whilst 3, 8 and 39 Infantry Brigades dealt with internal security and support to the civil power within Northern Ireland, 107 (Ulster) Brigade dealt with the Territorial Army units based in Northern Ireland.  The TA had, and continues to have, no role in the internal security of Northern Ireland.

39 Infantry Brigade therefore has the legacy elements from these different roles, which is reflected in its current structure, as it prepares to form the basis for the formation of 38 (Irish) Brigade on 1 August 2006.  Details of the Brigade units can be accessed by the following the links below.
