Since the formation of The Highlanders in 1994, the Battallion has been on operation in Northern Ireland (3 times), Bosnia and Iraq. Elements of the Battalion have also been deployed to Kosovo. Individuals were deployed to Sierra Leone and The Gulf.
Present Day
In March of 2004 The Highlanders moved to Fallingbostel in Germany. The Battalion has successfully converted to WARRIOR and is now the elite Armour Battalion in Germany. We live and fight out of the WARRIOR. The Battalion is now a member of 7 (Armoured) Brigade nicknamed the Desert Rats. The Brigade is perhaps one of the toughest and best equipped in the world and is at the fore front of the British Army's capabilities. Not only are The Highlanders equipped with the best Armoured Fighting Vehicles but it is also being given the best combat communications system of any army in the world.

As well as operational deployments the battalion was used to provide emergency fire cover in Glasgow during the Firefighters strikes in 03. The Battalion was also used in the massive farm animal cull that brought about the control of the Foot and mouth epidemic in 02.
