The Unit Welfare office is a small team of highly motivated soldiers who provide welfare support to DWR Soldiers and their dependants, 365 days a year.
The team manages such issues as confidential welfare support in times of need, advice and initial consultation with other welfare agencies including British Forces Social Services, Army Welfare services, Relate Germany and Home Start. The department is also responsible for housing and associated issues, the processing of BF (G) related documentation and day to day assistance with living in an Army community in Germany.
In addition, the office is also responsible for running an extremely busy community centre which provides a whole range of activities for both adults and children out in the Lotte Married Quarter area. The Welfare officer is also responsible for the supervision of two crèches and assists in the running of the Wellington first school advisory committee. The welfare office is located in Prestatyne Barracks and forms part of the 'Wellington community centre' which has a café, hairdressers, beautician and a large function room available for dependants and soldiers to use.
