The Conflict Studies Research Centre

This centre formed in 1972 is part of the Directorate General of Development and Doctrine.  It uses original sources to analyse the long-term factors of instability in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union as well as military and security policy and practice in the region.  It is active in defence diplomacy writing and distributing research papers as well as giving lectures and briefings and supporting scenario development.

Strategic Combat Studies Institute

The SCSI is a MOD-sponsored but independent organisation that brings together on a regular basis those interested in defence studies and related fields. Members of the Institute meet at a series of academic seminars held each year and receive SCSI papers on publication.  Its objectives are: to act as a forum and catalyst for discussion and debate, To sponsor and manage official non-technical research on strategic, operational and combat related issues affecting present and possible future concerns of the Armed Services, to help and encourage officers in the preparation and publication of their work and to establish a research and information retrieval database between a number of relevant national and international organisations.

ABCA

ABCA is an international armies program developed to ensure that the partners achieve agreed levels of interoperability and standardization necessary for two or more ABCA armies to operate effectively together within a coalition. America, Britain, Canada, and Australia are the primary coalition partners in the program while New Zealand is an associate member through Australia. The Primary Standardization Office is located in Rosslyn, Virginia.

FINABEL

FINABEL is the 10-nation European Armies Group.  DGD&D is involved in concepts and standardisation work within the organisation.

This website offers immediate access to information on NATO's policies and structures, official documents, press releases, speeches and publications and provides links to other relevant sites.  The homepage looks at key topics on NATO's current agenda and the latest developments relating to them.
