Movement to Brunei
It is the responsibility of your current unit to submit your application for flights to Brunei. On receipt of your AFA 10's and Medical Screening proforma, Brunei Garrison will allocate a SMQ and inform you, your unit, and Defence Passenger Reservation Centre,(DPRC), London about one month before your departure.
How this system works?
On receipt of a posting order, the Garrison Welfare and Housing Clerk from HQ Brunei Garrison will send personnel a Medical Screening Proforma, which is to be completed and returned to this unit or to MRS, HQ Brunei Garrison, BFPO 11. Not until the proforma has been received, and a quarter becomes available, will a family be called forward. On receipt of our notification and the application for flights, DPRC will forward all the necessary information you require apropos passports, medical, etc.
Unaccompanied Baggage (UB) can take up to seven weeks to reach Brunei, therefore you should ensure you have enough military dress, clothes and equipment to survive during the interim period.
The Royal Brunei Airways (RBA) flight will depart from London Heathrow, Terminal 3, Zone E. With a flight time of approximately 16 hours, (+ 7 or 8 hrs time difference depending on time of year), broken approximately half-way by a 40 minutes stop at Dubai, where you must disembark during the refueling process.
If there are any check-in problems on arrival at London Heathrow, travellers should contact the Civil Airport Detachment (Mob) 0770 586 736 for assistance. All flight Boarding Cards are issued at that desk. Upon arrival at the Brunei International Airport (BIA) you will be met by a member of the Movement Control Staff (MOVCON) and possibly a representative from your new unit, who will assist in the final journey to your relevant accommodation.
The journey from BIA to Seria and Kuala Belait (KB) takes about 75 minutes by car. A little longer by coach.
