On the 10th of June a four man team will row out of New York harbour to start the 3,100 mile journey to Falmouth in Cornwall. The men from the Duke of Wellington's Regiment will be competing against 14 other boats to become the first four man team to complete the crossing. Their vessel is the aptly named 'Yorkshire Warrior'.

To date only 141 people have rowed the Alantic since the first race in 1995. The event this year will be the first of it's kind. The north Atlantic presents a far more testing challenge than the more popular southerly route. In order to be ready for the challenge of this gravity the team will be spending the next two moths training off the south coast. They will need to be race fit, make adjustments to their boat and develop the routine that they will practice on board.

The team have also spent time training in sea survival techniques. With an unsupported event like this the team must know how to survive in the ocean should anything go wrong. The team spent a day at Gosport practicing their emergency drills such as using their life vests, getting into a life raft and how to attract attention.
