Recruitment

The Band of the Irish Guards has an ongoing recruitment policy for the replacement of musicians who retire from the band.
As a general guide the standard of musicianship required on entry is the Associated Board Grade VIII exam or higher. It is important to note that it is not necessary for applicants to have actually attained this qualification.
We fully understand that not everybody has the opportunity to attempt these examinations and all applicants are assessed for proficiency and potential at audition.
If you feel that you may like to consider Military Music as a career option and you would like to learn more about the Band and the work that we do, we are able to offer you the opportunity to visit the band and sit in on one of our rehearsals.
We are also able to offer one-week work experience programme giving you a deeper insight into Military Music, its career prospects, and the type of work that we do on a day-to-day basis.
