Soldier Profile

Adventure training in the French Alps

I am from Trowbridge, Wiltshire. I went to Holbrook primary school and then onto the Clarendon school. I was always interested in joining the Army so when I left school I took a public services course at Trowbridge College where I got more of an understanding of the Army and what I wanted to do. When I completed the course I joined the Army and after passing out of phase 1 & 2 training I joined 32nd Regiment Royal Artillery and was posted to 18 (Quebec) Battery in January 2006. I am an ACS level 1 signaler. I have deployed on two operational tours of Afghanistan where I worked as a signaler manning the ops room.

Both tours gave me a bigger understanding of my job and role. I hope to advance more in my trade where I can be considered for promotion. In the last year I have been skiing in France, and the Lake District kayaking, orienteering and climbing.  I have recently been to Portland where I did my BSAC open water diving course and am due to go to Spain next week were I will complete my sports divers course. The whole job itself is a challenge because you are always learning new things and striving to make yourself better in everything you do.
