Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps

Cpl Sandra Jordan

Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) nurses have worked at the sharp end of military life throughout their 100 year history of military nursing.

The nursing officers, registered nurses, healthcare assistants and student nurses of the QARANC deliver a high quality, adaptable and dedicated nursing service wherever the Army needs it.

Army nurses and Health Care Assistants can find themselves in Medical Regiments and Field Hospitals dealing with casualties of every type.

Postings can vary from a Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit - embedded within an NHS Trust in the UK - to a Field Hospital in Afghanistan to providing medical support to soldiers in a jungle setting.

The QARANC offers excellent career prospects for both soldiers and officers and little can compare with the job satisfaction that nursing offers, and when the organisation in which one is serving is the British Army, you have the bonus of further professional and military development, travel and adventurous training.
