Equipment Currently Used by The Regiment

As a Formation Reconnaissance Regiment, 9th/12th Royal Lancers uses a variety of equipment belonging to the Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) family, otherwise known as CVR(T).  The CVR(T) are light and agile, and unlike heavily armoured vehicles such as tanks, are relatively small enabling commanders to conceal their presence and use stealth as the main form of protection.  Although the vehicles are relatively old, with the first versions appearing over 30 years ago, they have been upgraded along the way and are now equiped with high performance diesel engines and latest generation thermal sighting equipment.
