BFPO Mail Announcement -
The MOD has recently stated that unsolicited gifts and packages from the general public sent to 'a soldier' in operational theatres from the general public cannot be accepted.
The MOD recognises and acknowledges the huge desire among the general public to support Service personnel on operations and wishes to express its gratitude for this support. However, unsolicited parcels have the effect of delaying mail from family and friends - mail which is extremely important to both the family and the recipient.
Members of the public wishing to support our Forces over the Christmas period are being provided with information on alternative ways to express their support, including making donations to Service Charities.
Mail arrangements for families and friends are unaffected. Packages up to 2kg may be sent free of charge at any time through the Royal Mail and BFPO to named personnel in eligible ships and theatres.
