Useful Information
What Do I Do If I Want To Go To AFC(H)?
Am I Qualified?
To enrol as a Junior Soldier at AFC(H) you need to be between 16 and 17 years old and one month at time of entry and have the determination and desire to succeed as a soldier. We do not ask for formal qualifications, but we are very interested in your potential as a soldier, both physically and mentally. That is the key quality that we are looking for.
Do I Have To Take A Test?
You will be asked to sit an Army entrance test using a touch computer to assess your suitability for the Army and to identify the best possible jobs for you. The results of this test and your academic performance at school will help us to decide whether you are right for the Army and whether the Army is right for you.
What About Me?
The Army welcomes applications from eligible candidates no matter what their sex, marital status, race, ethnic origin or religious belief. No account is taken of sexuality or background when assessing candidates. The Army is committed to being an equal opportunities employer and has a strict code covering discrimination and harassment. For reasons of operational effectiveness, some front line units are open to men only.
Where Can I Get More Information?
If you like what you've seen so far and would like more information about training at AFC(H), then telephone or call in at your local Armed Forces Careers Office (you'll find us in the phone book under Army). You don't need an appointment and you can discuss your career ideas with the staff there without making any commitment. College terms start in either September or January.
