Commanding Officer's Foreword
As the Commanding Officer of the Army Foundation College, I would like to welcome all the parents and guardians of the young men and women who are thinking of starting their military career at Harrogate.
The College seeks to develop young people to allow them to reach their full potential and thus a full and successful career in the Army. Many of the graduates of the College will go on to become Non-Commissioned Officers in the Army and undoubtedly some will become Sergeant Majors and Officers.
The 42 week course places a lot of demands on these young people, but the training has been designed to be progressive and achievable. The staff at the College, both Military and Civilian, are there to assist your son or daughter to succeed. All these young men and women require is commitment, determination and bags of enthusiasm. A sense of humour will also help!
If selected, your son or daughter would be embarking on an exciting new career. It will be a challenging year and there will be times they will need your support, particularly in the first few weeks. You will be encouraged to contact the College during the year to discuss any concerns. You will be actively invited to visit the College at least 3 times during the 42 weeks to see your son or daughter at work.
I hope this website answers the vast majority of your questions and concerns, but if not, please do not hesitate to contact your local Army Careers Office for further information.
