1st Signal Brigade

Commander 1 Signal Brigade is to command Operational Command troops, and prepare and deliver Command Support and General Support Communication Information Systems to Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps in order to contribute towards the UK military commitment to NATO.

1 Signal Brigade was formed in Rheindalen, Germany on 1 April 1995, in order to command signal units deployed on operations in the Former Republic of Yugoslavia. The Brigade deployed to Bosnia in December 1995 in support of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps on Operation RESOLUTE.

Since 1995, the Brigade has also deployed to KOSOVO, as well as deploying one of its Regiments to Iraq on Operation TELIC. Brigade troops are currently deployed in Afghanistan in support of the UK effort towards the International Security Assistance Force.



The Brigade Flash (seen on the left) is a white spearhead on a navy-blue diamond and was adapted from the badge of the 1st Corps Signals from World War 2, which was a white spearhead on a red diamond (seen on the right). The flash is; worn on the left sleeve of the uniform by all members of the Brigade

The flash was officially authorised on 21st April 1996.
