The 49 (East) Brigade of the British Army

The Army Vision:

British Army Cross Sword's Badge

A high quality professional Army, valued by the Nation, robust and useable, an Army ready to undertake, at short notice, any tasks required of it from civil aid to war fighting.

An Army characterised by an ethos whose core values are: selfless commitment, physical and moral courage, (self) discipline and respect for others; which therefore recognises the need to develop and educate its people, bases advancement on equal opportunities and merit, and offers them a rewarding and valued career of first choice.

The 49 (East) Brigade Role:

Link to Insignia DescriptionThe mission of 49 (East) Brigade in peacetime is to deliver the military capability represented by the units placed under its command and to provide support to other units and organisations within the region.  The main effort of the brigade is to train and develop soldiers and units so that they can take their place on operations as required.  We frequently deploy soldiers (both Regular and Territorial Army) to operations and training throughout the world.

In the event of general war or serious threats to the United Kingdom, the Brigade Commander and his staff command and control the defence of the region, co-ordinated with the Royal Navy, RAF, Police and other Emergency Services.
