The REME provides engineering support to 3 RHA. In both war and peace it keeps the Regiment’s equipment operationally fit so that it can continue to fulfil its mission. The L.A.D. is responsible for repair of the Regiment’s mechanical, electrical and optical equipment ranging from the SA80 rifle to the AS90 gun.
The Workshop is split down into three Battery Fitter Sections (BFS), one for each of the gun batterys (C, D and J) and a main HQ section, which supports M (HQ) Bty and the Workshop itself. Attached to the L.A.D. is a detachment from the Royal Logistic Corps which will provide spares when required.
Equipped with the Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle, the Regimental L.A.D. deploys whenever the Regiment does.
