Brigade Insignia
A new insignia has been approved for the Brigade. The "Striking Eagle" represents the offensive nature of air manoeuvre operations. The background colours reflect the core constituents of the Brigade. The design is adapted from one worn at the Special Forces Training Centre, Lochailort, in World War 2. |
Head-dress
In keeping with the rest of the Army. Regimental head-dress will be worn. The traditional maroon and light blue berets of the airborne forces and Army aviation will therefore be much in evidence.
Force Development and Training
The development of 16 Air Assault Brigade is to be conducted in close conjunction with the wider Army. Opportunities will be taken to work alongside the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps or the UK Divisions either as part of the conceptual development process or on exercise/operations. The development process will also recognise the imperative for the Brigade to operate within a joint force, primarily with the RAF, but also with maritime forces, particularly in a Joint Rapid Reaction Force context where deployment over strategic distances will be called for.
