Statistical Release Page

The latest national statistics on Energy Production and Consumption produced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change were released on 30th July 2009 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

This release includes statistics on annual production and consumption of
coal, oil, gas, electricity, combined heat & power, renewables and total energy, and on energy prices. Statistics on overall energy consumption, and energy consumption in the transport, domestic, industrial and service sectors are also included as well as statistics in support of key energy policy goals.

As part of this release an energy flow chart illustrating the flow of primary fuels from home production and imports to their eventual final uses has also been produced.

The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 31st July 2008.

To mark the 60th anniversary of the publication of the annual Digest of UK Energy Statistics a special release¹ looking at changes in energy production and use between 1948 and 2008 has also been produced.
