Other Competent Authorites still implementing - Mode 3

The EU Services Directive came into force across the European Economic Area (EEA) on 28th December 2009. It is implemented into UK Legislation by the Provision of Services Regulations 2009. The Regulations give both UK and non-UK-based service businesses the legal right to apply for licences electronically, including paying any associated fees.

Any competent authority that is not complying with the Regulations is breaking the law. The consequences may include: an infraction, being taken to Court for failing to remove unjustifiable barriers, risk of judicial reviews in decisions taken, general risks to the authority's reputation.

The ELMS Portal has been updated to provide information to assist Departments, Agencies and National and Professional regulators to meet the requirements of the Directive.
