Author Archives: Derek Doyle

My name is Derek Doyle. I work in the British Consulate in Bilbao as a UK Trade & Investment Officer and have done so for the last 28 years. The area we cover includes five autonomous communities in the north of Spain and three provinces belonging to other ones. The region is the size of Scotland and highly industrialised and energy conscious. Energy is a priority for us at our work as too is life sciences, advanced engineering, ICT, etc. Before joining the Consulate I worked in a Spanish company as Export Director which gave me the opportunity not only to see the world but also to get an insight into how tough the world of selling can be.
