Fishing for value in downtown Tokyo

gonefishingUp early  to visit the Tokyo fish market. It is a really fascinating place where you can find an enormous variety of fish from around the world. The bustling, noisy market is certainly a must see.

In Tokyo we’ve held discussions about social media, marketing, OMIS services and investment work.  I shared the value UKTI Australia gets from the networking of the UK Professionals in Australia LinkedIn group and from our @UKTIAustralia  twitter account. Engaging with business at different level through different modes of communication continues to be a valuable form of generating new work and delivering our services in a more effective way.

I discussed with the team the value of our OMIS services. We had recently benchmarked our services with a major accounting firm. They stand up well and cost around 10% of what the private sector would charge. This underlines the value of the service to UK business and we should be confident about selling our services and charging for them.

I really enjoyed my time here. It was far more accessible a place than I had feared. I managed to use the extensive underground trains, find my way around and feel comfortable and safe everywhere I went. There are clearly significant business opportunities for UK companies and Japan continues to be one of the most important investors in the UK. I will definitely be going back.
