The Department for Culture Media and Sport launched a consultation (external link) on the legal deposit of UK offline and online non-print publications. It is a legal requirement that a person or group submits copies of their printed publications to the British Library and four other designated libraries so they can be preserved for the benefit of future generations.
Taking forward the Gowers Review of IP - Second stage consultation on Copyright Exceptions
In January 2008 the Intellectual Property Office launched the first stage of a two-part consultation about the Gowers recommendations on copyright exceptions, which were intended to improve access to and use of copyright works. We asked how the recommendations might operate and suggested a number of options.
In this second stage, we discuss the responses and our findings, and present detailed proposals which are designed to achieve a fair balance between rights holder’s interests and users needs. Your views are sought on the draft legislation and the accuracy of the impact assessments.
